Introducing the Roku Voice Assistant

There is a new voice assistant in town that is going to take Alexa and Google Assistant by storm. Voice assistants have been all the rage among the tech world.

Roku will be launching their very own voice assistant with their very own line of smart speakers and soundbars. Additionally, they are planning on sending out updates for their current streaming devices so that they will be compatible with these new devices.

This isn’t the first time that Roku has dabbled with voice control before. They have had voice search features on their streaming boxes before. They are about to take their voice control technology one huge step forward with their new, very own virtual assistant.

Although this may sound a lot like Amazon’s Alexa or Google’s Google Assistant, there will be quite a few differences that we can expect. For starters, Roku is taking a very different approach from a development’s standpoint. Roku will rely solely on third-party manufacturers, unlike Amazon and Google who make it within themselves.

Functionally, Roku’s voice assistant will be very similar. Much like how Alexa can control the Amazon Fire TV, Roku’s new smart speakers will be able to control Roku-made TV devices.

We can expect to see these products by the second half of 2018!
