Like many other AI virtual assistant, Alexa has found herself to be the center of some “abuse.” Amazon’s AI program has undergone some changes which she is taking in stride.
Many of us are guilty of being a little mean to our AIs. Siri, Cortana, and Alexa are no strangers to some immature banter. Whether we make them say offensive terms or offer a sexist joke or two, many of these programs have had to develop clever remarks.
For most of her programming, Alexa has responded rather neutrally. If you were to call Alexa offensive terms such as b**** or s***, she would merely reply “Well, thanks for the feedback.” Unlike Siri, she pretty much took the “abuse” with little problem.
Now, Alexa is starting a new year with a new her. She now says, “I’m not going to respond to that.” Like her AI counterparts, she is fighting back!
Many feminist activists are happy with this change, while some say Amazon is getting too much credit for doing what is right. If nothing else, Alexa is certainly growing a backbone.
