We are stepping into the future where virtually all of the appliances in our homes are due for an upgrade. Among one of the most popular items to innovate is our televisions. Smart TVs allow for a lot more features and controls that have become the norm in our technology—driven society. With Apple at the frontier of advancement, one would expect them to be right up front with an Apple Smart TV.
Now Apple does have a lot of technology out there, however an actual Apple Smart TV is not something that is currently on the market. This does not mean that Apple has no device that can upgrade your television experience.
Apple Smart TV
Although it is not a Smart TV per say, Apple does make an Apple TV device. What this device does offer is a way for you to make your current television kind of function like a Smart TV. The device hooks right up to most modern televisions and puts them online.
This will allow you to unlock brand new potentials for your TV. You will be able to subscribe to many different streaming services and put them directly on your television. This means you will no longer be forced to schedule recordings or watch things live.
From HBO Go, Amazon Prime, and even Netflix -you will have more than enough to stream immediately right at your fingertips. The Apple TV allows you to do much more than just watch movies and television programs. Like one would expect from any Smart TV, it allows you to utilize different programs that would otherwise not be on your television.
You will be able to listen to music, play games, or even surf the web all though the comfort of your own living room. On top of that, the device is much cheaper than actually going ahead and purchasing a Smart TV.
A Smart TV tend to run on the expensive side -and it makes a lot of sense. You are practically buying a combination of a giant HD TV and a computer for your living room. Considering Apple’s track record with high prices, you should expect that the theoretical Apple Smart TV would sport an especially hefty price tag as well.
In this respect, an Apple TV does make things a little bit easier an offers an advantage over a complete Smart TV. Hardly any installation required for an innovation that comes at an affordable price.
Still, there are some disadvantages that come with Apple TVs not actually being a full on Smart TV. They can not offer all of the features that come with the whole system. For example, many of the cool control options are lost. Some Smart TVs are able to track hand movements or use voice commands -two things that you cannot do with the Apple TV.
Although this advantage greatly depends on the model of your TV, Smart TVs tend to offer a superb video and audio quality that you do not always have with a regular TV. Some can even have 3D movies played -with and without glasses.
It really depends on how far you are looking to go (and how much money you are willing to spend) when it comes to whether or not an Apple TV is enough for you.
While that is what Apple offers now, this does not mean that an Apple Smart TV is not in the future. Although there are not any concrete announcements about the device, there have been some rumors circulating around the web about one in the works.
It would not come as a surprise if an Apple Smart TV were to be announced in the near future. Considering how Apple works, they could very well just be waiting to have the perfect design set out before they unveil to the public.
